'In online marketing, continuing to develop is a must'

Janneke de Wilde is a marketer at Emergo Prefab in Almelo. This company provides total solutions for the building envelope, such as pefab roofs, walls, dormers and housing modules and offers a complete prefab modular housing concept. Complementing the building solutions, the company also provides renewable energy solutions such as the prefab energy roof Navitect II. "We are progressive and innovative and when it comes to our online marketing we want to be and stay that way. Therefore, we will always have to keep developing ourselves." For that reason, Janneke joined Adwise Academy's Continuous Learning Program (CLP).

Janneke (32) studied Technical Commercial Textile Engineering, a study that focuses on management positions in the textile and clothing industry. Marketing was one of the aspects that was also covered during the course and along the way she discovered that she really liked and found that field of study very interesting. She did a specialization in marketing and graduated at an online marketing agency in Hardenberg. She worked as a marketer at an insurance broker and a health and safety service, among other things, and ended up at Emergo Prefab in early 2022.

"Emergo is a real manufacturing company and has traditionally supplied complete prefab roof solutions. These are assembled in the factory and then transported to the construction site where they are assembled. In addition, Emergo Premodu has developed a modular housing concept where a complete house can be erected in just five days, once the foundation is in place." The company further developed an innovative concept where solar panels are fully integrated into prefabricated roofs, and a product that reprocesses heat in roofs is currently under development.

Inferior child

In the construction world, marketing was often a neglected child. But those times seem to be over, says Janneke. "We want to reach new target groups with our innovative products and then you also have to be innovative with your online marketing. That's why we hooked up with Adwise, which is a forerunner in that area. When I heard about Adwise Academy's Continuous Learning Program, which is intended to enhance the personal development of online marketers, I was immediately excited."

Online marketing is a field that is developing at lightning speed. Janneke does not want to feel like she is behind the times with the latest trends and developments. She also likes to be inspired and spar with peers and Adwise's top marketing specialists. "I want to learn new things and think out-of-the-box more often, but I often lack the time to keep up with all the trends and developments myself. Adwise Academy makes a preselection with the CLP, so you only learn about really relevant new developments and tools and can immediately go in-depth. Moreover, you also get to work with them right away in practice."

Caravan and bunk beds

Janneke attends relevant training at Adwise Academy every quarter through the CLP. So she started with the theme day Google Analytics (in the morning) and Grip on your work week (in the afternoon). The following quarter, she took Concept & Content. And most recently, she chose Social Media & Social Advertising. She also took a company visit to Google. "It was so cool to see firsthand how they operate there! Google is the wheel of all marketing, at least that's how I see it. They explained to us what developments they see coming in Marketing Automation and explained how to make Google work better strategically for your organization. Their office was also very inspiring. There was a Google caravan, of course the famous slide and there was a Google bunk bed, for employees who needed a power nap. I don't know if it is often used in practice, but it shows that they want to take good care of their staff and that the fun element is great."

She likes the fact that she regularly sees the same faces during the trainings. Thus, course participants get to know each other better and better and a lot of knowledge and experience is exchanged. "It is very pleasant to spar with colleagues about what they encounter and to hear how they have solved a certain problem. As a marketer you often only think from the industry you work in and in my case I work in a small marketing department. Then a session like this with peers who all want to keep improving is wonderful. The participants work for different companies and have different backgrounds, but that's what makes it so interesting. The CLP really puts you in a helicopter and challenges you to look at something from a different perspective."

New sense and passion

Janneke is very appreciative of the level of Adwise Academy's trainers. "They are all experienced professionals who are happy to share their knowledge about their specialization with you. There is a lot of interaction and the sessions are very accessible. The trainers are more beside you than above you." This makes her feel like she is getting tips and tricks from a colleague.

After each training day, Emergo Prefab's marketer thought: we need to do something with this! She emphasizes that the CLP days give new meaning and passion. "It really is an inspiration to get going again. I notice that I do things differently now than before. For example, I changed the structure and themes for social media based on what I heard there about the 3H model. And I've alerted some colleagues who were open to it to the book Getting things done, which came up during the More Grip on Your Workweek session."

She calls the CLP program highly recommended for online marketers who want to continue to develop themselves. If it were up to her, she would continue it next year. "Of course, that does depend on our plans and the topics covered within the program. For example, if there is a session on Account Based Marketing coming up, I would love to be there! It's an inspiring place, with fine, knowledgeable people and - not to mention - the lunches are always delicious and enjoyable!"
